About
Recording producer and balance engineer working between Berlin, Seoul and wherever the music happens.
A recording should feel like an extension of the performance — not a layer placed on top of it.
I came to recording through composition and began assisting on sessions in Korea in 2008. After moving to Germany in 2011, I studied artistic recording production and developed my work through years inside European classical recording productions.
What interests me most is not imposing a recognisable house sound. It is understanding how a musician phrases, how an ensemble breathes and what conditions help them play with freedom and confidence. That begins with listening: making performers feel understood, keeping the session focused without making it mechanical, and knowing when to offer direction and when to leave space. Those observations guide the microphones, the balance and the decisions made later in the edit.
I see planning, producing, recording, editing, mixing and mastering as one continuous artistic process. Every technical decision should help reveal more of the performance, not draw attention to itself. The aim is not simply a polished sound, but a recording in which the performer can recognise their own musical voice.
